C. John Tupper, Jr., M.D.
Dr. John Tupper serves as Medical Director for Shodair Children’s Hospital’s Adolescent South Unit, which is home to patients ages 14 through 18. Dr. Tupper originally came to Shodair as a locum tenens in the 1990s and soon became a permanent part of the psychiatric team. In 1996, Dr. Tupper left Shodair to open a private practice in Helena, returning to Shodair in 2002.
A graduate of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center’s Medical School in San Antonio, Dr. Tupper completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. His psychiatry training encompassed both general and child psychiatry.
Dr. Tupper’s areas of special interest include psychotherapy, family therapy, group and milieu therapy, adolescent psychiatry, and spirituality.
A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Tupper is also active in the Helena community.
